From the Markets of Oaxaca to the Heart of Troy

La Tlayuda Juquilita was born from a simple conviction: the flavors of Oaxaca deserve to be experienced exactly as they are — handmade, unhurried, and deeply rooted in generations of culinary wisdom.

Every morning our kitchen begins before dawn. The nixtamal is ground, the moles are stirred, and the copal smoke rises. We source chilhuacle chiles, black tortillas from Oaxacan corn, and mezcals from small distilleries in the Valles Centrales — because authenticity isn't a marketing choice, it's a standard.

Located on 2nd Avenue in Troy, we invite you to sit, stay, and let the food do the talking.

The Flavors That Define Us

Each dish is a direct line to Oaxaca — no shortcuts, no compromises, just the real taste of southern Mexico.

Wood-Fired Tlayudas

Our signature open-faced tacos — crispy black-corn tortillas slathered with asiento, Oaxacan cheese, and your choice of tinga, chorizo, or chapulines. Fired to order on the comal.

Seven Traditional Moles

Negro, coloradito, verde, amarillo, chichilo, manchamantel, and pipián — each simmered for hours, each recipe guarded like family treasure. Served over free-range chicken or tamal.

Premium Mezcal Pairings

From Espadín to the rare Tobalá — our curated collection features agaves from small-scale palenques across Oaxaca. Every pour comes with a story and a recommended bite.

Mole Negro de Muertos

Our most revered preparation — a deeply complex mole negro with notes of charred chili, plantain, and chocolate. Made in small batches, available by reservation on select days.

Family-Style Sharing

Oaxacan dining is communal by nature. Order a spread of tlayudas, quesadillas de本章, and sopes — then pass everything around the table and eat like family.

Vegetarian & Vegan Options

Our moles are built on chiles and spices — naturally vegan when prepared without cheese or lard. We welcome dietary needs and will happily customize your order.

More Than a Meal

From the moment you walk in, you'll feel the warmth of Oaxacan hospitality.

Intimate Setting

A cozy, 40-seat dining room designed for conversation and connection — never rushed, never crowded.

Mezcal Sommelier

Our mezcal guide will walk you through our 30+ selections and pair each pour with the perfect bite.

Takeout & Catering

Order ahead for pickup or bring the flavor to your next gathering — we cater events and celebrations.

Made with Love

Every dish is prepared by hand, using recipes passed down through generations of Oaxacan cooks.
